In order to shape an international cooperation lively over a distance of more than 10,000 km, active people are needed here as well as there taking up this challenge with heart and mind, developing new project ideas together and shaping cooperations. For this purpose the Mpumalanga Forum NRW was founded already in 2001. Over time more than a 100 organizations and individual persons came together under this roof and by now civil society- and church initiatives, an exchange of knowledge and experience at government level, economic relations as well as city and school partnerships are part of this network. During the 15 years of cooperation an increasing number of ties across the borders of Mpumalanga grew with other South African provinces- as there are Free State, Limpopo, Western Cape and Gauteng.
Since 2015 we, as South Africa Forum NRW, support people and organizations in their commitment for projects and above all with partners of the Rainbow nation – in the sense of a just and sustainable development we concretely work on themes like fight against poverty, food security and rural development, health and well-being, education, gender, clean energy and climate protection, responsible consumption and decent work.
We welcome people and initiatives that are interested in cooperations, experience exchange, intercultural work and networking.

Gabriela Schmitt
Bildungsreferentin bei Arbeit und Leben DGB/VHS NW für internationale und interkulturelle Projekte. Zurzeit arbeite ich gemeinsam mit den Partnern aus dem Südafrika Forum an dem Aufbau von deutsch -südafrikanischen Jugendbegegnungsprojekten zu den Themen der SDGs. Ich habe großes Interesse dazu beizutragen, dass so ein außergewöhnliches Netzwerk stark und lebendig bleibt. Es ist aus meiner Sicht ein sehr spannender Ansatz internationalen Austausch und Politische Bildung zusammenzubringen.

2003 haben wir die ersten Färbergärten in Mpumalanga der Partnerprovinz von Nordrhein Westfalen anlegt. Seit dem hat sich die Initiative sevengardens-Southafrica dort verselbstständigt und gibt dem Netzwerk sevengardens weltweit Impulse. Zahlreiche Workshops wurden bereits durchgeführt und sevengardens ist in einigen Schul-Curriculaaufgenommen worden. Subsistenzwirtschaft , Fair-Trade-Tourismus und Bildung sind die Lerninhalte.
Almud Pollmeier
Ich arbeite seit Gründung der Südafrika-Hilfe e.V. 1985 ehrenamtlich für die Projekte des Vereines in Parys/Tumahole, Free State, Südafrika und bin heute geschäftsführender Vorstand. Wir konzentrieren uns s auf die Förderung von Bildung und Gesundheit, koordinieren mit lokalen Partnern Projekte zur Waisenbetreuung, eine Einrichtung für Körper- und Geistig Behinderte, eine HIV/TB-Klinik und vergeben Stipendien für bedürftige Jugendliche. In Deutschland arbeite ich als Kinderärztin, nachdem ich sechs Jahre in Südafrika in den Projekten der Südafrika-Hilfe e.V. tätig war. Das Foto zeigt mich zusammen mit zwei kleinen Patientinnen; die Arbeit dort war eine der intensivsten in meiner bisherigen beruflichen Tätigkeit.
